Privacy Policy

This site is run by Adil H., the author of The Breath of Origin. It is a personal author website. It is not a company, it does not sell advertising, and it does not sell, rent or trade anyone’s personal information.

What is collected

• Your email address, if you choose to subscribe to receive the free chapter or news about the series.
• What you write to me, if you use the contact form — your name, your email address and your message.
• Standard server logs, kept automatically by the web host: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site running and secure.

There is no account system on this site. There is no comment section. Nothing is collected from you that you have not typed in yourself, apart from the server logs described above.

Why it is collected, and on what basis

Your email address is used for one purpose: to send you the free chapter and occasional news about the series. The legal basis is your consent, given when you tick the box and submit the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it.

Contact form messages are used to reply to you, and for nothing else.

Server logs are kept on the basis of legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

Who else can see it

A small number of service providers process data on my behalf. They are bound to use it only for the service they provide:

• The web host, which stores the site and its server logs.
• The email service, which stores subscriber addresses and sends the emails.
• Gumroad, if you buy a book. Purchases happen entirely on Gumroad’s own platform under their privacy policy. Your payment details are never seen by, sent to, or stored on this site.

Beyond these, your information is not shared with anyone, and it is never sold.

How long it is kept

Your email address is kept until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted. Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about. Server logs are rotated and deleted by the host on their own schedule.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising cookies and does not run third-party tracking or profiling. The web host and its security and caching tools may set strictly necessary technical cookies so that the site loads correctly and stays protected. These do not identify you personally and are not used to follow you across other websites.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or a country with comparable rules, you have the right to:

• ask what personal data is held about you, and get a copy of it;
• have it corrected if it is wrong;
• have it deleted;
• object to its use, or ask that its use be restricted;
• receive it in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent at any time;
• complain to your national data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, write to the address below. No explanation is required, and there is no cost.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and no data is knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to me and the address will be removed.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Substantial changes affecting subscribers will also be sent by email.
